Volkswagen T-Roc Fuel Consumption (MPG & km/L)

One of Volkswagen's best-selling vehicles, the T-Roc has sold over a million units globally since its 2017 release. However, the T-Roc's appeal has been somewhat diminished because the brand now offers no fewer than nine SUVs in different colour schemes. Nevertheless, a minor redesign in 2022 gave the vehicle a more modern look and increased curb appeal.

In VW's SUV lineup, it falls between the chic Taigo and the useful Tiguan. Though it is positioned as a competitor to the Nissan Qashqai, Kia Sportage, Peugeot 3008, Toyota C-HR, and other models, the T-Roc is actually a rather awkward size, with dimensions more akin to those of the Ford Puma.

Since there are no plug-in hybrid, electric, or hybridised VW T-Roc models available, the most efficient models that are offered for sale have diesel engines, which is an unfashionable choice. In the official WLTP test, the 115 horsepower version got 58.9 mpg; the 150 horsepower engine isn't far behind with 56.6 mpg; however, the addition of a DSG gearbox and 4Motion four-wheel drive has a marginally negative impact. In the real world, aim for low 50s to the gallon in every situation.

In actuality, petrol engines are also fairly economical. The WLTP ratings for the 1.0 TSI are 49.7 mpg, the 1.5 TSI is 47.3 mpg, and the 2.0 TSI is 38.6 mpg. Our experience with the 1.5 TSI indicates that you should get between 40 and 45 mpg, whereas the 1.0 TSI should provide 45 mpg or so. The 2.0 TSI is more likely to occur in the mid-30s.

Volkswagen T-Roc Fuel Efficiency Figures

The fuel consumption of the Volkswagen T-Roc is shown below in both MPG (Miles Per Gallon) and km/L (Kilometers Per Litre). Both of these figures show you how far that particular Volkswagen T-Roc variant can travel for every gallon (4.55 litres) and every litre (1000ml) of fuel. The higher the MPG or km/L value, the more economical the car is and the cheaper it will be to run. As well as providing the combined figures, we also give you the fuel consumption you can expect from a Volkswagen T-Roc in urban / city driving conditions as well as what can be expected on the open highway / motorway.

How To Calculate Real Fuel Consumption Of Your Volkswagen T-Roc

The 'real fuel consumption' shows you the amount of fuel your Volkswagen T-Roc is consuming to travel a fixed distance. This is normally shown as L/100km. This figure shows you the amount of fuel consumed in litres for every 100kms travelled. This is the most commonly used figure for showing the fuel consumption of a vehicle. The formula to calculate it is:

(Litres of fuel used X 100) / Kilometers travelled = L/km.
