The Suzuki Jimny is a compact, all-purpose 4x4 with off-road capabilities that other small SUVs can only imagine. Although its predecessor originally went on sale in the UK in 1998, the most recent fourth-generation vehicle was introduced in 2018. As a result, it is among the most popular models in recent years, which shows how well Suzuki's little 4x4 concept has worked.
In the UK, this Suzuki Jimny was only offered with a 1.5-liter petrol engine that lacked any kind of performance-enhancing or emissions-reducing turbocharging technology. Although it may feel out of its depths on the road, this reliable and reasonably priced powertrain provides adequate power and driveability in the majority of off-road scenarios.
Suzuki Jimny Fuel Consumption
Although the official WLTP estimates put the Jimny's mileage in the mid-30s, the vehicle's weight allows it to achieve more than 40 mpg in the real world when compared to the majority of its modern SUV competitors. However, for a car of this size, its official CO2 emissions rating of 154g/km (for the more efficient manual gearbox version; the auto is even worse at 170g/km) is not particularly outstanding.
The Suzuki Jimny could prove to be a wise investment for people who are concerned about more than just fossil fuels. It is not only well-made, but it will continue to function long after its more sophisticated competitors have been recycled thanks to its independent chassis, sturdy parts, and global presence.
With a manual transmission, the 1.5-liter petrol engine achieves a combined fuel economy of 38.5 mpg, while the rarely used automatic gearbox achieves an average of 32.1 mpg.
If you take the car off-road and employ the low-ratio option for true mud-bashing, expect to get about 30 mpg on a daily basis from either variant, and less.
The carbon dioxide production is 178 g/km with a manual gearbox and 198 g/km with an automatic. However, the fixed charge of £180 for a 12-month road tax is required for all Suzuki Jimnys.
Suzuki Jimny Fuel Consumption
It doesn't cost much to service a Suzuki Jimny until you truly test the vehicle off-road.
Because the Suzuki is in groups 13 to 14, depending of whether you select the SZ4 or SZ5 trims, insurance won't put your funds at risk either.
The fuel consumption of the Suzuki Jimny is shown below in both MPG (Miles Per Gallon) and km/L (Kilometers Per Litre). Both of these figures show you how far that particular Suzuki Jimny variant can travel for every gallon (4.55 litres) and every litre (1000ml) of fuel. The higher the MPG or km/L value, the more economical the car is and the cheaper it will be to run. As well as providing the combined figures, we also give you the fuel consumption you can expect from a Suzuki Jimny in urban / city driving conditions as well as what can be expected on the open highway / motorway.

The 'real fuel consumption' shows you the amount of fuel your Suzuki Jimny is consuming to travel a fixed distance. This is normally shown as L/100km. This figure shows you the amount of fuel consumed in litres for every 100kms travelled. This is the most commonly used figure for showing the fuel consumption of a vehicle. The formula to calculate it is:
(Litres of fuel used X 100) / Kilometers travelled = L/km.
