MPG and Fuel Efficiency Advice
Particularly when it comes to EVs, Kia has established itself as a formidable competitor for European automakers. The company aspires to continue its success and develop some of the best electric vehicles available, such as the Parkers award-winning EV6.
Kia plans to launch 11 new electric vehicles by 2027, some of which will share a platform with the top-performing Kia EV6. However, the Soul EV is the final surviving member of the old school, and the brand is currently caught between its previous and next-generation electric automobiles. Do you still want to pay attention to the old-timer?
Kia Soul Fuel Consumption
The efficiency of the 39.2kWh Kia Soul EV isn't truly represented by the fact that we've just driven it at the track. Nevertheless, we've driven the 64kWh model for a considerable amount of time, and we're happy to say that it's a really economical electric vehicle.
WLTP testing confirms Kia's claim that the Soul EV can travel up to 280 kilometres on a single charge. That is only marginally less than the 285 miles that its sibling vehicle, the Kia Niro EV, can cover. The Soul's range was determined to be approximately 250 miles on the open road and 280 miles in low-speed urban driving during our real-world testing. That is quite remarkable.
We actually believe that the majority of drivers will be able to get through their weekly mileage on a single charge. Compared to operating a car of the same size on petrol, you should save money if you have a smart wallbox charger installed at home. This device can automatically recharge your car's battery with inexpensive power during off-peak hours. Just keep in mind that purchasing the Soul EV comes with a higher upfront cost.
The carbon dioxide emissions of the Kia Soul's higher trim petrol models may surprise you. These can reach 170g/km, which, for vehicles registered before April 1, 2017, translates to an annual road tax payment of £290 at current rates.
At the time of writing, the diesel-powered Kia Soul costs £180 regardless of when it was registered because it emits 132g/km less. Because of its 47.1 mpg for the auto and 56.5 mpg for the manual, this version is also the most fuel-efficient. The best fuel economy is 41.5 mpg.
Kia Soul Fuel Consumption
When we examine our Real MPG numbers, these official values come into closer view. They show that the petrol gets about 36 mpg and the diesel gets 46 mpg.
The size of the battery affects the charge time. With a 7.4kW wallbox, the 39.2kWh model can be fully recharged in six hours, whilst the 64kWh variant requires slightly more than nine hours. Additionally, 50kW DC quick charging is supported by both vehicles, allowing the tiny battery to be charged to 80% capacity in 48 minutes. It takes around an hour for the large battery to fully charge.
Both the Kia Soul's MPG (miles per gallon) and km/L (kilometres per litre) fuel consumption are displayed here. The range of that specific Kia Soul model is indicated by both of these numbers for each gallon (4.55 litres) and each litre (1000 millilitres) of fuel. An automobile's fuel efficiency and cost of operation increase with its MPG or km/L rating. The 'real fuel consumption' shows you the amount of fuel your Kia Soul is consuming to travel a fixed distance. This is normally shown as L/100km. This figure shows you the amount of fuel consumed in litres for every 100kms travelled. This is the most commonly used figure for showing the fuel consumption of a vehicle. The formula to calculate it is:
(Litres of fuel used X 100) / Kilometers travelled = L/km.
