Since the launch of the compact Avenger, Jeep's reputation in Europe has grown. To capture the top spot in the luxury SUV market, the American brand has chosen to introduce its most recent Grand Cherokee model in Europe and the UK in addition to upcoming new electric vehicles.
Jeep has to contend with fierce competition, which is unfortunate. The BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Audi Q5, and Range Rover Sport are just a few of the many German-made options.
It is possible to achieve a stated fuel economy of up to 97.4 mpg, which is outstanding on its own but not nearly as good as many of the Jeep's competitors. A figure like this can only be achieved with careful driving and frequent charging, as is the case with plug-in hybrids.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Fuel Consumption
According to Jeep, a standard 7.4kWh home wallbox can charge the Grand Cherokee's 17.3kWh battery pack in less than three hours.
The 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee can travel up to 31 miles on electricity alone and is only available as a plug-in hybrid. While some PHEV SUVs can go farther before the petrol engine starts up, that's perfect for purchasers who have a short commute or who wish to run the school run entirely on electricity.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Fuel Consumption
For business drivers, plug-in hybrids are the best option because they may save a lot of money on taxes when compared to petrol or diesel cars. However, compared to rivals with certified emissions of less than 50g/km, the Grand Cherokee will have significantly higher company car tax costs due to its 60g/km CO2 emissions.
A diesel alternative might be a better option for anyone else searching for an affordable large SUV, especially if they intend to pull a trailer or travel a lot of highway miles. You should be sceptical of the Grand Cherokee's 108.6 mpg rating, particularly if you can't charge it on a regular basis.
