The Korean company has built tiny SUVs before, such the Hyundai Bayon. Although it already has the Kona, the Bayon is much smaller; consider it the SUV counterpart of the i20 supermini, whereas the Kona is more akin to the i30.
Neither a plug-in nor a standard hybrid is available here, nor is there an electric version like the Peugeot e-2008 or the Vauxhall Mokka-e.
Hyundai Bayon Fuel Consumption
Instead, a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 100 or 120 horsepower is available; the latter includes modest hybrid assistance at 48 volts. The turbocharged engines have the option of a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic gearbox, but there is no diesel option either.
The so-called "intelligent" six-speed manual gearbox is included with the mild-hybrid variant. This implies that even when you're coasting along at high speed in gear, the 120hp model's engine can start and stop quite swiftly and smoothly. Although some may believe this arrangement makes it more difficult to determine the bite point when starting or shifting gears, this is because the clutch pedal is electronically controlled rather than by a mechanical linkage.
The WLTP fuel efficiency rating of 53.3 mpg is stated for almost all Bayon models. The top-spec trim's 120 horsepower manual, which yields a marginally different 52.3 mpg, is the only exception. The range of emissions is 119–121 g/km. These numbers are competitive.
The fuel consumption of the Hyundai Bayon is shown below in both MPG (Miles Per Gallon) and km/L (Kilometers Per Litre). Both of these figures show you how far that particular Hyundai Bayon variant can travel for every gallon (4.55 litres) and every litre (1000ml) of fuel. The higher the MPG or km/L value, the more economical the car is and the cheaper it will be to run. As well as providing the combined figures, we also give you the fuel consumption you can expect from a Hyundai Bayon in urban / city driving conditions as well as what can be expected on the open highway / motorway.

The 'real fuel consumption' shows you the amount of fuel your Hyundai Bayon is consuming to travel a fixed distance. This is normally shown as L/100km. This figure shows you the amount of fuel consumed in litres for every 100kms travelled. This is the most commonly used figure for showing the fuel consumption of a vehicle. The formula to calculate it is:
(Litres of fuel used X 100) / Kilometers travelled = L/km.
