Ford Puma Fuel Consumption (MPG & km/L)

Because of its small 1.0-litre petrol engines and mild hybrid technology, the Ford Puma is a very inexpensive car to drive. On paper, the most economical engine is the manual-equipped 125hp model, which achieves an official WLTP fuel economy of up to 52.3mpg. However, because the more powerful 155hp model shares the same basic engine, it achieves an official MPG of 51.4.

In other words, there is no significant penalty for choosing the more powerful engine. In fact, in our experience, the 155hp engine can be more efficient than the 125hp model in the real world because it requires less effort to accelerate. We averaged nearly 42mpg even while testing its performance, which is very impressive.

If you value fuel economy, avoid automatic transmissions. It significantly reduces the Puma's official fuel economy to as low as 48.7mpg. When you consider how enjoyable driving a standard manual gearbox is, there's little reason to spend the extra money on an automatic.

Ford Puma Fuel Efficiency Figures

The fuel consumption of the Ford Puma is shown below in both MPG (Miles Per Gallon) and km/L (Kilometers Per Litre). Both of these figures show you how far that particular Ford Puma variant can travel for every gallon (4.55 litres) and every litre (1000ml) of fuel. The higher the MPG or km/L value, the more economical the car is and the cheaper it will be to run. As well as providing the combined figures, we also give you the fuel consumption you can expect from a Ford Puma in urban / city driving conditions as well as what can be expected on the open highway / motorway.

Ford refers to the technology as a mHEV, and every version of the Puma has a 'EcoBoost Hybrid' badge on its tailboard, which can be confusing for drivers unfamiliar with hybrid vehicles. Do not be fooled. The Puma lacks the electric capability of a full hybrid SUV like the Toyota Yaris Cross or Kia Niro Hybrid, as it cannot run solely on EV power.

However, Ford plans to expand the Puma lineup. In 2024, the company will introduce a pure electric version of the vehicle, powered by the same motor and battery pack as the Ford E-Transit Courier van. If you like the Puma but want an EV, it might be worth waiting for that.

How To Calculate Real Fuel Consumption Of Your Ford Puma

Ford Puma Fuel ConsumptionFord Puma Fuel Consumption

The 'real fuel consumption' shows you the amount of fuel your Ford Puma is consuming to travel a fixed distance. This is normally shown as L/100km. This figure shows you the amount of fuel consumed in litres for every 100kms travelled. This is the most commonly used figure for showing the fuel consumption of a vehicle. The formula to calculate it is:

(Litres of fuel used X 100) / Kilometers travelled = L/km.
