The RAM Trucks sub-brand - or RAM for short - belongs to the Dodge company, which in turn is part of the Chrysler group. Among other things, Dodge is known for the muscle car Challenger. The RAM sub-brand has various commercial vehicles on offer, including the RAM 1500, RAM 2500, RAM 3500, RAM 4500 and RAM 5500 pickups.
As unreasonable as a car that is almost six meters long and more than two meters wide with a displacement of almost six litres sounds to European ears, the consumption is also unreasonable. Practically nothing goes below 15 litres per 100 kilometers, in everyday life 17 litres are realistic and those who like to set the flap exhaust will be "rewarded" with up to 22 litres per 100 km. After all, the manufacturer takes precautions and installs a 124 litre tank if desired (standard: 98 litres).
Incidentally, the importer also offers conversion to LPG, which saves money on fuel. The RAM 1500 can also be ordered with a 3.6 litre V6 petrol engine with a 48V starter generator. Consumption is also reduced by the electronic limitation of the top speed at 175 km/h. This probably doesn't play a major role in the American market, but it can cause problems when overtaking on the motorways / highways.
The fuel consumption of the Dodge RAM is shown below in both MPG (Miles Per Gallon) and km/L (Kilometers Per Litre). Both of these figures show you how far that particular Dodge RAM variant can travel for every gallon (4.55 litres) and every litre (1000ml) of fuel. The higher the MPG or km/L value, the more economical the car is and the cheaper it will be to run. As well as providing the combined figures, we also give you the fuel consumption you can expect from a Dodge RAM in urban / city driving conditions as well as what can be expected on the open highway / motorway.

The RAM 1500 comes in a number of variations. From high-quality trimline and the sport packages to the off-road package and extensive (standard) equipment. All models come with the 8-speed automatic gearbox, which are coupled to a typically American naturally aspirated engine. The engine delivers 401 hp and offers a torque of 556 Nm. Anyone expecting acceleration values ??similar to those of a sports car will be disappointed because the RAM 1500 weighs around 2.5 tons (2500kg) and takes approx 8 seconds to go from 0-60mph. Although this is not exactly sluggish and perfectly suitable for everyday use. The RAM is therefore more suitable for comfortable driving which is complemented by the very comfortable air suspension.
Dodge RAM Fuel Consumption
Knowing the real fuel consumption (sometimes called 'Real MPG' or 'Real km/L) of your Dodge RAM is critical because it is shows the actual fuel efficiency you are getting from the car. It shows you the true MPG or km/L you are getting from your Dodge RAM from driving in the real world, rather than the figures provided by the manufacturer. Calculating both the fuel economy of your car is as easy as 1-2-3.. Use our simple Fuel Efficiency Calculator to help easily work this out.
The 'real fuel consumption' shows you the amount of fuel your Dodge RAM is consuming to travel a fixed distance. This is normally shown as L/100km. This figure shows you the amount of fuel consumed in litres for every 100kms travelled. This is the most commonly used figure for showing the fuel consumption of a vehicle. The formula to calculate it is:
(Litres of fuel used X 100) / Kilometers travelled = L/km.
