MPG and Fuel Efficiency Advice
Although it is getting on in age, the Audi Q5 is still a well-liked premium SUV. Since its 2016 launch, it has undergone facelifts, tucks, and nips to keep up with the competition. For this reason, its popularity hasn't diminished. The Audi Q5 comes with a 45 TFSI gasoline engine or a 40 TDI diesel engine, depending on your preference for a traditional gasoline or diesel engine. The 45 TFSI has emissions as low as 191g/km and up to 33.6 mpg, depending on the trim level. With its 70-litre fuel tank, this model can travel almost 520 miles if you meet the official economy estimate.
The diesel has a 24-litre AdBlue tank in addition to a 65-litre fuel tank. AdBlue is a system that lowers exhaust emissions; the car cannot function without it, and the trip computer will alert you when it needs to be refilled. The tank needs to be filled periodically. This model has official emissions as low as 164 g/km and up to 44.8 mpg of fuel economy. If you can do that, the car's range is increased to 640 miles.
With the 40 TDI, we were able to get between 40 and 43 mpg, which is still more than 500 miles per tank. The mild hybrid technology in the diesel engine facilitates an earlier activation of the stop-start system when the vehicle speed drops below 13 mph, as opposed to coming to a complete stop. Additionally, there is the option to coast for brief periods of time while the engine is off. This feature did work well for us and is said to operate at up to 99 mph.
The plug-in hybrid is claimed to have impressive fuel economy. To do this, though, you'll still need to regularly plug the car in. Even with frequent lengthy trips, our long-term model manages an unsatisfactory 37 mpg on average. However, its 35g/km of low emissions make it a desirable business vehicle.
With the Q5's part-time quattro all-wheel drive, the engine primarily powers the front wheels to save fuel and only transfers power to the rear when driving in more challenging conditions. According to Audi, the SQ5 can achieve up to 34.9 mpg and emit 213 g/km of CO2. It's important to note that although the Q5 Sportback's emissions are very slightly higher, it still gets the same fuel economy numbers as the regular SUV.
Audi Q5 Fuel Consumption
The fuel consumption of the Audi Q5 is shown below in both MPG (Miles Per Gallon) and km/L (Kilometers Per Litre). Both of these figures show you how far that particular Audi Q5 variant can travel for every gallon (4.55 litres) and every litre (1000ml) of fuel. The higher the MPG or km/L value, the more economical the car is and the cheaper it will be to run.
