The Giulia ended a long dry spell at Alfa Romeo. For years there had been no significant product innovation from the Italian brand. The Giulia also revived a traditional name.
As early as 1962, there was a Giulia model with an idiosyncratic four-door design, which was both a family car and a sporty model, and achieved legendary status. More importantly, with the Giulia, Alfa was supposed to take the step from small to large-scale manufacturer. In 2015 the Giulia, a mid-range notchback sedan rolled out on a completely newly developed platform. It was to be expected that she would make the front pages of Italian newspapers, but it was something special to feature in the New York Times.
When the new edition was unveiled at the IAA 2015, expectations couldn't have been higher. The heiress to the original model should also re-establish the brand in the middle class. It also marked the start of a product offensive which, with the Stelvio, most recently meant entry into the SUV boom segment.
The fuel consumption of the Alfa Romeo Giulia is shown below in both MPG (Miles Per Gallon) and km/L (Kilometers Per Litre). Both of these figures show you how far that particular Alfa Romeo Giulia variant can travel for every gallon (4.55 litres) and every litre (1000ml) of fuel. The higher the MPG or km/L value, the more economical the car is and the cheaper it will be to run. As well as providing the combined figures, we also give you the fuel consumption you can expect from a Alfa Romeo Giulia in urban / city driving conditions as well as what can be expected on the open highway / motorway.

In 1910 the Società Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili (ALFA) was founded in Milan. Five years later, the engineer Nicola Romeo took over the company, which was then called Alfa Romeo from 1920.
In the 1930s, Alfa built legendary racing cars. Later, technically complex and shapely cars such as the Giulia and the Spider were developed. However, there was no great economic success and in 1986 Fiat (today Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) bought the brand. Current models are the new Alfa Giulia and the SUV Stelvio.
The Alfa Romeo Giulia is 4.64 meters long and designed in a typical 'Alfa' way - with the radiator grille in the form of an inverted triangle. Thanks to 510 hp the Alfa Romeo Giulia can go from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds. The new platform made it possible to design it as a rear-wheel drive vehicle as well as an all-wheel drive vehicle - both versions of the Giulia came onto the market in 2016, even if only the more powerful variants with the "Q4" abbreviation for power transmission to all four wheels was available.
But Alfa first really hit the mark for a lot of people with the sports version Quadrifoglio. A twin-turbo V6 with 510 hp, co-developed by sister company Ferrari, pumped 600 Nm of torque from 2.9 litres onto the crankshaft, enabling the four-door sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and further to 307 km/h.
While the sports version with carbon fiber components also took a top spot in terms of price at over 70,000 euros, more civil versions also came into the showrooms - as competitors to the Audi A4, Mercedes C-Class, Ford Mondeo, Opel Insignia or the BMW 3 Series. It started with two 2.2-litre diesel versions with 150 hp and 180 hp, later an entry-level expansion stage with 136 hp was added.
However, the fuel-saving master was the subsequently submitted 180 hp version in the Advanced Efficiency version, which pushed the standard consumption from 4.2 litres to 3.8 litres and thus officially enabled CO2 emissions of 99 grams per kilometer. Nevertheless, speeds of up to 230 km/h were possible. Two 2.0-litre turbos with 200 hp and 280 hp completed the range of petrol engines.
Irrespective of the extent of the engine power, all versions should radiate sporting spirit - as can be seen, for example, in the cockpit, which is geared towards the driver. And of course the driving behavior: the handling is great, the steering is crisp and precise, the chassis is firm without neglecting comfort.
